Trip to Rozbark

Trip to Rozbark – check out the place where time stands still!

The fascinating space of the Silesian Narrow Gauge Railway Repair Workshop will welcome visitors during the festival! In the halls, among abundant greenery, they will find old train cars. Throughout the year, the place is closed for outsiders. It will only be possible to get in there on Saturday, June 22. The capacity is limited!

In the past, Rozbark (Rosberg) was an independent municipality, and now, for almost 100 years, it’s been a district of the city of Bytom. The area was once buzzing with industrial life, revolved around the Rozbark mine and railway transport infrastructure. Nowadays, it’s undergoing intense revitalisation, looking for a new identity. Architectonically, it’s one of the typical Silesian districts, full of multi-family houses, green squares and industrial buildings.

Some of them, such as the former waiting room of the Rozbark mine that became the headquarters of the Rozbark Dance and Movement Theatre, have already found a new function for themselves. Others, such as the Silesian Narrow Gauge Railway Repair Workshop (Rozbana), are still waiting for their chance. It might be the last moment to take a look inside the place where time stands still and the cars seem to be half asleep, among abundant greenery that forced its way into the space, waiting for a signal to depart towards modernity.

Organized in cooperation with the Bytom City Hall, the trip will be hosted by Marcin Doś, author of the Indunature book and the Alternatif Turistik project. To take part in it, the participants will be required to sign a disclaimer stating that they enter the Silesian Narrow Gauge Railway Repair Workshop on their own responsibility.
