A colourful constellation of intriguing artists joins previously announced Matthew Dear, creating a full weekend lineup for the Red Bull Music stage at the Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice festival. As every year, we can expect a long-lasting dance marathon until dawn. The Red Bull Music stage enchants with a multitude of themes, presenting a wide spectrum of dance electronic. Tickets are still on sale!
Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice has collaborated with Red Bull almost since the very beginning of the event. For years, it’s been one of only a few festivals in Poland that host a Red Bull Music stage. At Nowa Muzyka, this stage is traditionally playing the longest and for many regulars it provides the most intense thrills!
The biggest stars of this year’s Red Bull Music lineup are famous techno representatives: Roman Flügel, Mariel Ito and Oscar Mulero. All three of them are considered DJing experts. Roman Flügel is a nonconformist. His music is deeply rooted in house and techno, but every set he plays sounds different and he’s famous for frequently surprising the audience.
Mariel Ito is one Maceo Plex’s aliases, dedicated to techno. The name refers to the wave of Cuban refugees who came to his native Miami in 1980 (they were called “Marieitos”), while Oscar Mulero is one of the best techno DJs in Europe, continuously active on stage for over three decades. He stands out against other DJs with pristine technique and excellent selection, and regularly presents his artistry around the world.
A more experimental, yet still dance version of electro will be delivered by two award-winning artists – Laurel Halo and Marie Davidson. The first one is the pillar of the London-based Hyperdub label, while Marie Davidson’s work is characterised by cool minimalism combined with suggestively dark atmosphere. The Canadian’s feisty music and stage charisma guarantee an unforgettable performance!
The fans of more ambitious electronic music will surely be excited about the performance of Thomas Fehlmann, a member of The Orb and the 3MB supergroup (consisting of Moritz Von Oswald, Blake Baxter, Juan Atkins and Eddie Flashin’ Fowlkes). 2018 marked the release of as many as three of his albums, all full of delicate electro of the highest quality.
Neon Chambers is a new collaboration between well-known artists. Set up by Kangding Ray and Sigha, the project constitutes melodic, monumental techno at tits best. Also Karen Gwyer’s music is rooted in techno, however she combines it with acid psychedelia. The artist is famous for her explosive live performances, largely based on analog synths. And that’s exactly what we can expect to see in Katowice. One of the Studio Barnhus big bosses has recently ended up on Mixmag’s list of the world’s top 20 DJs. On the Red Bull Music stage, Kornél Kovács will present his original house vision.
An extra dose of vivid sounds will be delivered by another American, hiding behind the name Novo Line. His music is a form of hauntology, where improvised live tracks emerge from playing around with the tone of MIDI-controlled equipment. The Polish music scene will be represented by three extraordinary artists. Kamp! is one of Poland’s most popular electronic bands. Sosky is a Red Bull Music Academy New York graduate and has recently released a well-received debut album, “Delicious Depression”. And finally, the lineup is completed by Wrong Dials, DJ and producer, known for organising the Dym festival and well as a label with the same name.
2-day and 3-day tickets are still on sale. More information on the Festival’s website. This is not the end of unveiling the programme of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice 2019!
On June 20-22, the Culture Zone in Katowice will once again be taken over by the hottest and the most intriguing sounds from around the world. With an annual lineup of fascinating artists and a remarkable location in the very heart of Silesia, Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is considered one of the most recognised and appreciated music festivals in Europe. It’s well worth another visit!
