“FURIA plays KINO” is an original project by Silesia Film and the band FURIA. During the festival, the Upper Silesian band FURIA will perform original music to unique materials from the Silesian Film Archive – the only regional film archive in Poland. On the screen we will see images of Silesian cities, the region’s everyday life and industrial heritage. All of this will be brought to life anew by a sound story wrapped around the Silesian spirit and mythology. This will be no ordinary concert: FURIA plays Cinema is an alchemy of image and music!
One of the most original Polish black metal bands. It was formed in 2003 in Katowice, Poland, on the initiative of vocalist and guitarist Michal “Nihil” Kuzniak. The band consists of: Kamil “Sars” Staszałek (bass), Grzegorz “Namtar” Kantor (drums) and Artur Rumiński (guitar, since 2013). FURIA’s credits include more than a dozen album releases, performances in Japan, Romania, the UK, the OFF Festival in Katowice and the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, among others; a nomination for the “Polityka” Passport and collaboration with Jan Klata and the Old Theatre in Krakow on the adaptation of “The Wedding” by Stanislaw Wyspianski. An important source of inspiration for the Katowice-based group is the tradition, culture and art of Upper Silesia: its mythological universe, which they willingly and often refer to in their work (“Guido”, “In the Dream Room”).
