His real name is Gabor Schablitzki. The German DJ and producer is a veteran of the club scene, which he has been contributing to since the late 1980s, and cites the cult film “Beat Street” as one of his biggest teenage inspirations. He formed several bands and collaborations, the most important of which turned out to be the duo Wighnomy Bros. Under this banner, Robag produced many club classics, collaborating with Monkey Mafia. In 2010, the duo disbanded, and Gabor devoted himself to solo activity. Robag Wruhme had already been formed in the wave of the trend for names and nicknames read backwards. Since then
Gabor has been constantly playing and producing new music, including on his own label, Tulpa Ovi. In mid-2019, he returned with the third album of his career, which Pitchfork wrote of as “the prettiest, silkiest and most poignant electronic minimal.” Recent years have seen a series of great singles and EPs released on Kompakt, among other labels.
