Oxford Drama PL

After more than ten years of playing, can you feel like you’re just starting your musical adventure and still have a lot to say? That’s exactly how Oxford Drama feel a year after releasing their fourth album, “The World Is Louder.” After three albums that were very well-received by journalists and audience, and concerts played at festivals such as Open’er, Off and Soundedit, Gosia Dryjańska and Marcin Mrówka still feel a huge excitement every time they create a musical world behind each release. They also get no less joy from translating it into concert conditions. Known for being music nerds (which they’re very proud of!) and for their meticulousness (which meant that you had to wait patiently for each album), the Wrocław duo spent many summer evenings jamming and improvising, losing themselves in it like kids who have just discovered their favorite records. “The World Is Louder”, which had the opportunity to sound in the studio of Radio Trójka, as well as on the American KCRW, is a completely new face of the band, both loud and punk (“More & More”, “Ought To Know”) and more subtle and atmospheric (“Six Feet Under”, “Mediation 1”). And it is no coincidence, because just like on the album, so also in concert, for Gosia and Marcin, balance and playing with dynamics are very important. The world may be louder, but Oxford Drama faces it both in ecstatic dance and soothing meditation.
