Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is back in two weeks! Between 29 July and 1 August unique artists from Poland, Europe, Asia and both Americas will perform in Katowice. Today, eight more names are added to the festival programme, closing this year’s lineup. Moreover, one-day tickets have been put on sale.
The festival is famous for its diversity and the programme of the 16th edition of the event keeps that flow. Jazz, experimental electronic, techno, house, rap and electropop are just some of the musical genres present at the festival. The invited artists combine unusual, sometimes avant-garde ideas with the ability to reach an audience of thousands.
New artists
The programme is joined by Belmondawg, a hard to pigeonhole rapper also known from the Mobbyn squad, as well as another rapper from Gdynia – Szczyl, whose recordings have reached millions of views. Colombian DJ ISAbella represents a fresh Latin breeze in electro music and strongly emphasizes ties to the LGBT community. Spaniard JASSS combines her love of danceable industrial with an experimental streak. Massive techno beats will be presented by Chino, producer from Katowice, Sid Le Rock (Pan/Tone), Canadian DJ and producer and A_GIM, who will present a live act based on the soundtrack to a video game This is the Zodiac speaking. Mr Lex, Polish DJ and music journalist completes the programme.
During the festival, fascinating sounds will fill three stages: in Strefa Kultury, JAZBAR Muchowiec and Sztauwajery at the Dolina Trzech Stawów. In Strefa Kultury there will be placed Main stage, Club stage and Newonce stage. The opening concert of the festival will be held in JAZBAR Muchowiec.
On Friday, July 30th on the main stage we will hear Floating Points – an outstanding creator of ambitious electronic music, Acid Arab – a multicultural band from Paris and EABS – rising stars of the new wave of Polish jazz. On Saturday, July 31 on the Main stage we will hear GusGus – electropop stars, Błoto – an intriguing jazz band with guest vocalist Anthony Mills aka Tony Sauna and Folk Solution – Ballet Artists of the Song and Dance Ensemble “Śląsk” im. Stanisława Hadyna.
Club stage will be dominated by the sounds of electronic dance and club music. On Friday, July 30, we will hear techno and house sounds, which will present such DJs as Gerd Janson, DJ Tennis, Jennifer Cardini, Sid Le Rock and Mr Lex. Saturday, 31 July is time for darker techno, industrial and electro. There will be artists like Afrodeutsche, Chino, ISAbella, JASSS and A_GIM, who will perform a live act This is the Zodiac speaking.
In the Strefa Kultury there will also be Newonce stage, which will be dedicated to hip-hop and rap music. The top players of the Polish rap scene will perform there – Włodi/1988, Syny, Kukon & Julia Mikuła, Zdechły Osa, Belmondawg, ŻYTO/NOON, Szczyl, Lowpass and Święty Bass, as well as American rapper and multi-instrumentalist Kassa Overall.
Unfortunately, due to restrictions related to Covid-19, the previously announced Andy Stott, will not appear at this year’s festival edition, according to his agent. However, he will perform at Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice next year.
All of the invited artists will appear in the heart of Upper Silesia, a fascinating region that combines many of the monuments of the industrial era with beautiful green spaces. Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is one of the most appreciated music festivals in Europe and its status is confirmed by its fascinating artistic programme and remarkable location.
One-day and other tickets
One-day tickets for 140 zł are now on sale. Invariably for the two-day pass to this year’s edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice fans will pay only 199 zł. Those who already have a pass or will buy a ticket for next year’s festival, for a two-day pass for this year’s edition of the festival will pay even less – 149 zł.
A separate ticket for 40 zł is required for the opening concert, which will be headlined by Brazilian jazz musician Domenico Lancellotti. He will be accompanied by Piotr Zabrodzki, Macio Moretti and Wojtek Traczyk. After the opening concert DJ Hura will present a DJ set.
