Entering this year’s summer was marked by musical uplift. Between 20 and 23 June, as many as 20,000 people witnessed an outstanding series of performances by nearly 50 artists from Poland and abroad. The powerful eruption of emotions continued throughout the festival weekend. For Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice, this means a return to the attendance and atmosphere from the best times before the COVID-19 pandemic. The next, already the 20th edition of the event will take place from 19 to 22 June 2025. The co-organiser of the festival is the City of Katowice.
The nineteenth edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice was inaugurated by a unique concert for five old computers from the 1980s. Robert Henke and his audiovisual project CBM 8032 mesmerised the full IKMO hall and set the tone for the following days of the festival. Fans of fresh sounds were able to experience both musical surprises and performances by big stars. In the opinion of many, the festival Friday belonged to outstandingly talented women. It was then that such diverse artists as Róisín Murphy, Nosowska, Daria from Silesia, Nabihah Iqbal, Kelly Moran and many others presented themselves. There was also a return to the sounds of the 1990s, provided by Kruder & Dorfmeister and DJ Krush.
The festival’s Saturday was marked by a non-stop stream of world-class electronica, delivered one after the other by masters Evian Christ, Clark, Leftfield, Bicep and Chase & Status. The NOSPR’s Main Concert Hall was also the venue for a unique experience, with performances by the charismatic saxophonist Bendik Giske, among others. An unwritten custom of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is the immense popularity of the club music stages, this year co-organised by the festival partners T-Mobile Electronic Beats Club Stage and Secret Stage powered by Prime Video. The dance marathon there lasted until the early hours of the morning. Festival-goers were delighted not only by the sets of stars such as Âme, DVS1, Pachanga Boys and Skream, but also by the dazzling visuals and atmospheric decorations. Unfortunately, due to Friday’s cloudburst, the concerts of the bands Kury and Nihiloxica did not take place at the Amphitheatr Powered by Lech stage. The Turkish singer Tuğçe Şenoğul also did not appear at the festival due to visa problems.
The culmination of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice was FAJRANT! at JAZBAR Muchowiec, a dance party headlined by the famous DJ Michael Mayer.
During Tauron Nowa Muzyka 2024, there were also numerous accompanying events and additional attractions, guaranteed among others by the festival partners. A special show of the latest collection by designer Bartosz Pilawski, as well as the Spawn X Point performance in the Silesian Museum and the Lech and Tiger branded zones attracted a lot of attention. As every year, thirsty festival-goers were able to drink free water supplied by the WSE. The Culture Zone once again turned into a vibrant festival town through which a real river of great music flowed. It is no coincidence that Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is considered one of the must-stops on the festival map of Poland.
The festival is sponsored by Tauron Polska Energia. Co-hosted by the City of Katowice. Subsidised by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the National Institute of Music and Dance.
