In June, Katowice will be filled with the most interesting current events on the Polish off scene. During the jubilee 20th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice, we will hear electronic live acts, alternative titans, new projects by young jazzmen and a charming harpist. The invited artists guarantee a unique fusion of sounds. Season tickets and tickets are available at https://festiwalnowamuzyka.pl/.
The national scene at Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is represented by the forest spirits behind the ETNOBOTANIKA project. They are the authors of a nostalgic mix of samples and electronics, which has been on playlists all over Poland for a long time. The Upper Silesian duo will present a pre-premiere of material from their upcoming album at the festival. Many fans will certainly be pleased by the return of the Fisz Emade Tworzywo group, which refers to the climate of the cult “Polepiony Dźwięky” on its latest album “25”. The titans of Polish alternative are in excellent form, combining electronics with rock music and rap in their characteristic style. In Katowice, we will hear both new material and the group’s greatest hits. The young energy of the Polish jazz scene will be represented by hoshii, i.e. saxophonist Kuba Więcek and his new band. This is a musical journey full of experimentation, freedom and a new sound identity, based largely on electronics. During the festival, hoshii will play on the stage at the NOSPR Amphitheatre – Powered by Lech.
The international duo Crack Rock, formed by multi-instrumentalist Latarnik (Marek Pędziwiatr, leader of such bands as EABS, Błoto and Zima Stulecia) and American vocalist Anthony Mills (Wildcookie), also has jazz roots. Together, they explore the state of addiction that inspired the name of the group and music. In the form of light songs, they smuggle serious content filled with pain. Different inspirations guide the next artist on the list. Marysia OSU is a Polish-born, London-based harpist, producer and composer. She is famous for her innovative combination of classical, ambient and jazz music. As a harpist, she makes a huge contribution to the London jazz scene, and in June she will enchant the audience of the 20th edition of the festival. Oxford Drama, a duo formed by Małgorzata Dryjańska and Marcin Mrówka, will come from Wrocław to Katowice. Their work is inspired by the music of Morrissey, among others, and the mix of styles they represent can be best described as experimental pop. The list is closed by Piernikowski, definitely one of the most original Polish artists. At the festival, he will play material from his latest album “Beyond Echo of Time”. Dark and abstract melodies will transport the audience to a world of enchanting sound structures. This may be one of the most interesting concerts of the festival.
