A captivatingly elegant combination of R&B and electro will inaugurate the 14th edition of the Festival! On Thursday, June 20, the concert hall of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) will host a performance by Rhye. The mysterious project enchants audiences with emotional richness and the unique voice of Canadian singer and producer Mike Milosh. The sales of 3-day tickets encompassing the special opening concert launch today.
Originally a duo composed of Mike Milosh and Danish producer Robin Hannibal (known from Quadron, among other projects), Rhye was conceived in 2012. Their two initial singles quickly became an internet sensation, catching the attention of both the audience and critics. They successfully stunned the industry with their debut album “Woman”, highly acclaimed by various media, including Pitchfork, The New York Times and The Guardian. Robin Hannibal left the group in 2017, before the release of their second album “Blood”. Since then, Rhye had evolved into a fluid music collective, focused around its frontman, producer and vocalist, Mike Milosh.
All the changes to the band’s lineup have not influenced the sound of Rhye in any way, and it still can be simply described as a mosaic of emotive piano keys, buzzing analog synths, vibrant percussion and expansive vocals. Milosh’s distinctive falsetto and sophisticated video clips successfully complete this intoxicating blend of R&B and electro inspired music. The group has gained worldwide popularity and has been regularly performing at the biggest and most important festivals, including Coachella. On June 20, Rhye’s enchanting performance will kick off the 14th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice!
The opening concert will be hosted in a state-of-the-art auditorium of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR). The grand concert hall was designed by Japanese experts and commissioned in autumn 2014. NOSPR provides some of the best acoustic conditions in Europe and thus is perfectly suited for extraordinary musical experiences, such as Rhye’s concert!
At the same time, 3-day tickets at the promo price of PLN309 go on sale today. Considering NOSPR’s limited capacity, the number of those tickets is also limited, so do not wait too long! 2-day tickets are still available for sale. More information can be found on the Festival’s website. This is just the beginning of unveiling the programme of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice 2019.
On June 20-22, the Culture Zone in Katowice will once again be taken over by the hottest and the most intriguing sounds from around the world. With an annual lineup of fascinating artists and a remarkable location in the very heart of Silesia, Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is considered one of the most recognised and appreciated music festivals in Europe.
