An alternative pop star, outstanding creators of ambitious electronic music and masters of hypnotic club music will play in Katowice! On June 11-14, we’ll hear exceptional performances by artists who electrify audiences all over the world.

The biggest star among the invited artists is undoubtedly American band Cigarettes After Sex. They describe their own music as “ambient pop”, but it also shows traces of shoegaze, slowcore and elements of dream pop. The group has been building their popularity by publishing smooth singles, covers and viral clips on YouTube. Their first studio album was released in 2017, while its successor “Cry” hit store shelves in autumn 2019. The album was recorded during night sessions taking place in a villa in Mallorca. “It’s a meditation on love and sexuality in the 21st century” – that’s how The Independent daily described their latest release. Songs form this excellent record will blast out in June at the Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice festival!

Ambitious electronic music will be represented by two exceptional British artists. Floating Points is a composer, producer and DJ from London. His spacious and melodic releases gained critical and audience acclaim for filling the gap between EDM, jazz, classical and experimental music. In autumn 2019, Ninja Tunes released his album “Crush”, full of advanced, aggressive electronic music with IDM and UK Garage inspirations. This material will surely be presented in Katowice.

An equally intriguing music mix is delivered by Andy Stott. His music escapes unambiguous classification, moving from mutated house, through a unique approach to grime, to crazy folk. Deep multi-layered structures of his productions enchant with peculiar beauty. In November 2019, he released an extremely well received double EP “It Should Be Us”, and 2020 marks the release of his another LP. For life performances, the artist uses mainly hardware, forgetting about the club dimension of his music and presenting complex musical narratives. We can expect the unexpected.

The festival will also feature some brilliant DJs. DJ Tennis is the founder and chief of the Life & Death label, among other projects. The label has promoted its own style of melodic music resulting form the clash of techno and house, represented for example by Tale of Us, a duo discovered by Tennis. Great charisma, hypnotic sets and a unique intimate sound put him on a path to worldwide success. In June, we’ll see him play in Katowice!

Thanks to a wide selection of music and excellent technique, Gerd Janson has become one of the world’s most valued house DJs. He’s also the founder and chief of the prestigious Running Back label and co-creator of the producer duo Tuff City Kids. He was called “the favourite DJ of your favourite DJs”. Versatility and boundless love for music is the trademark of Gerd Janson’s gripping sets.

This announcement of stars of the 15th edition of the Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice festival is completed by a French DJ. Contagious energy and musical versatility have led Jennifer Cardini to the very top of the electronic scene. The artist presents a unique style combining leisurely pace of building atmosphere and striking pulsating energy based on sophisticated techno, electro and house.

This is just the beginning of unveiling the programme for the 15th Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice! More announcements coming soon! 3-day and 2-day tickets are still available for sale. Just as in 2019, the festival Sunday will be free of charge. That’s when the participants will be able to enjoy another free dance marathon at Sztauwajery in Katowice – Fajrant!

With an annual lineup of fascinating artists and a remarkable location in the very heart of Silesia, Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is considered one of the most recognised and appreciated music festivals in Europe. It’s well worth another visit. More information on the Festival’s website.
