The announcement opens with an artist well known to Katowice audiences. Hudson Mohawke has played a significant role in shaping the current sound of electronic music and hip-hop. He has performed twice at Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice, first at the very beginning of his career in 2009 and three years later with the duo TNGHT. Now the Warp label star will return to Katowice with material from his album “Cry Sugar.” His twisted sound is based on neon synth hues, heavy bass and strong beats, accompanied by cartoonish sound effects. HudMo has produced music for such stars as Kanye West and Drake, among others. In June in Katowice he will again present sounds ahead of their time from the interface of trap, future bass and hip-hop.

A fresh style will also be presented by Biig Piig, one of the current hottest female vocalists in the UK. The artist was born in Ireland, spent her young years in Spain and then moved back to the Islands. To this day, she still records songs in two languages. In them, she combines a global mix of influences that includes hip-hop, R&B, dance music and stripped-down soul. Her debut album entitled “Bubblegum” was released in January 2023, and it is this material that will be heard at the concert in Katowice.

Completely different sounds will be presented by Kerala Dust. The trio brings together disparate influences of psychedelic rock, blues and techno into a coherent whole. Their original songs bring to mind club remixes of recordings of hippie classics. The band’s live performances bring creative and surprising reinterpretations of material from their albums, including “Violet Drive,” released this year. Kerala Dust’s performance will certainly be one of the most interesting concerts at the 18th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice.

As every year, the festival will also not lack techno stars. On the June night we will hear a hybrid live/DJ set performed by Acid Paula. This is the club alter ego of the artist known for such projects as Console and The Notwist. As a versatile musician, he feels equally comfortable performing in clubs and at concerts. In June in Katowice, we will collide with the richness of Acid Paula’s vision live. In turn, feisty sounds at the intersection of techno, electro and IDM will be presented by Animistic Beliefs. They are a queer duo from Rotterdam that has gained recognition for their energy-dripping live performances. Behind their work is the idea of animism, derived from indigenous belief systems and assuming that all objects, creatures and places have a spiritual essence. A fierce punk aesthetic is also nurtured by PVA, another trio from London and key players in the local indie scene. At the end of 2022, the group released its debut album “BLUSH,” on which it blends punk claw with danceable electronica and new wave musicianship. During PVA’s concert in Katowice, we can expect powerful discharges of stage energy.

Unfortunately, of the artists announced so far, Mykki Blanco, who canceled this year’s tour with the band, will not be performing at the festival. However, he will be replaced by equally fascinating artists, and more secrets about the program of the 18th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice will soon be unveiled!

Two-day passes for PLN 349 are still on sale, as well as three-day passes for PLN 439. Single-day tickets will go on sale on March 8! Unique emotions, memorable concerts, exceptional artists and a unique location – this is the shortest recipe for the Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice festival. It is worth visiting again.
