One of the most important electronic bands in the world will headline this year’s edition of the festival! Few artists can so aptly combine pop sensitivity with techno energy, hypnotic rhythms with distinctive vocals, and fresh experiments with catchy melodies. Underworld are the authors of the rave generation anthem – “Born Slippy (Nuxx)”, as well as hits such as “Two Months Off”, “Cowgirl” and “Techno Shinkansen”. Their live performances are an engaging fusion of sound and image, full of crazy energy and improvisation. In June, Underworld will play in Katowice as headliners of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice 2025. Rick Smith and Karl Hyde, better known as Underworld, became famous as the creators of the unparalleled album “dubnobasswithmyheadman” from 1994 and the timeless hit “Born Slippy (Nuxx)”. The song became an anthem for a generation after it was featured on the soundtrack of the 1996 film Trainspotting, teleporting the band from the underground to the heart of the mainstream. Since then, Underworld have been constantly pushing creative boundaries, crossing genres, and refusing to stand still. This is best evidenced by their latest album, Strawberry Hotel, released in 2024, which includes the euphoric club hit “Techno Shinkansen.”
Rick Smith and Karl Hyde continue to bring millions to the dancefloors around the world. They have sold hundreds of thousands of records, played a huge number of concerts, produced music for films by directors such as Anthony Minghella and Danny Boyle, and provided the soundtrack for the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. After the commercial success of the Grammy-nominated album “Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future”, the band returned with the “Drift” series. Underworld were set to headline TNMK 2020, but the planned concert was canceled due to the pandemic. This time it’s gonna happen for sure! The band’s live performances are a hypnotic, audiovisual spectacle – in June, Katowice will be filled with both the most popular hits and the latest Underworld material.
