The Carbon Stage is a venue for presenting intriguing artists who combine artistic experimentation with audience popularity. Over the years, it has been one of the places where many festival-goers have made their greatest musical discoveries.
It will be no different on Friday, 22 July and Saturday, 23 July, when the 17th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice will feature a mix of experimental electronica, rap, rock and pop by outstanding artists from all over the world.
Among the invitees are such great DJs as dubstep pioneer Skream, who is currently exploring 4×4 dance sounds, and Lorenzo Raganzini, who loves dirty, aggressive techno and shocks with his image as a cyberpunk black metal artist. Rock claw will be provided by the internationally adored Trupa Trupa. The Times has compared them to Sonic Youth, Radiohead and the 1980s Manchester scene, while Pitchfork and the Guardian have also written about them in superlatives.
The July weekend will also feature a very strong representation of the Polish rap scene. The Carbon stage will feature such high-profile artists as Zdechły OSA, CatchUp, Hodak, BartoKatt and, above all, the cross-genre Tymek/Urbanski project. There will also be no shortage of apt experimentation, guaranteed by two extremely talented women. Catnapp combines the latest millenialist aesthetic with open lyricism, creating pop with rap and future R&B influences. The sublime sounds of choir and cello will be presented by Resina, one of Poland’s most interesting female artists.
