Digital artist. His work is inspired by both radical club culture and contemporary music. The Monolake project he founded became one of the key icons of the new electronic music scene that emerged in Berlin after the fall of the wall. Robert Henke’s audiovisual side includes algorithmically generated images, laser installations and an artistic exploration of refurbished personal computers from the 1980s. Robert Henke is one of the main creators of Ableton Live, the software that has redefined the performance practice of electronic music since its debut in 2001. Robert Henke has taught at the University of the Arts in Berlin, the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford University and the Institut de Recherche et Cooperative Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM) in Paris. His installations, performances and concerts have been presented at Tate Modern in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Le Lieu Unique in Nantes, PS-1 in New York, MUDAM in Luxembourg, MAK in Vienna, Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Art Gallery of New South Wales in Australia, KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Berlin, STRP Biennale in Eindhoven, as well as at countless festivals such as Unsound, CTM, MUTEK, Sonar, New Forms Festival, among others.
