The Knife’s phenomenal lead singer in her solo project, charismatic DJs from Serbia and Greenland, nu jazz stars, a musician combining Middle Eastern folklore with cutting-edge technology, techno and footwork artists, and a band juxtaposing guitars with electronics – they will all perform in the heart of Katowice at the end of June! Nine extraordinary artists from seven different countries join the ever-growing lineup for this year’s edition of the Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice festival. This means that it will be one of the most international editions in the 13-year history of the event! At the same time, the price of 2-day tickets goes up to PLN 239, starting February 1.

This year, the fans of musical diversity are in for a real treat. Sweden’s phenomenal Fever Ray will perform at the Festival within her first tour in eight years. She was the lead singer of The Knife, a duo created together with her brother. Nowadays, she is focusing on motherhood and solo career. In autumn 2017, she surprised everyone with a release of her long-awaited second album “Plunge”, where the futuristic electropop typical for Fever Ray is enriched with modern r’n’b rhythms. The concert of this intriguing artist will be one of the highlights of the forthcoming 13th edition of the Festival.

Numerous fans of Son Lux will surely get excited about the band’s performance on the main stage of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice. Their concert in Warsaw planned for February is already sold out, and their “Brighter Wounds” album, the release of which is scheduled for the same month, will definitely increase the interest in the group’s music. Combining elements of rock, electro and pop, their records are beyond any genre classification. Typical song structures are enriched with complex edits and crowned with the latest music production technologies.

There is no doubt that Uwe Schmidt‘s projects, Señor Coconut and Flanger (featuring Burnt Friedman), will get some well-deserved attention, as they present electronic expansion of the legacy of jazz and Latin music. The clash of old and new is also reflected in the works of Iran’s Sote, since his technologically advanced songs are simultaneously based on the traditional music of Persia. The performances by these artists guarantee captivating music experiences and will be some of the most intriguing ones during the upcoming Festival.

The programme will also include a special live act by a true legend of French electro, The Hacker. Famous for his duo with Miss Kittin, the artist returned to his roots and now mixes dark techno with clod New Wave, using only analog devices.

A strong feminine element will also be provided by two fascinating DJs, Tijana T from Serbia and Courtesy from Greenland, as well as a footwork artist, Jlin. All three of them are an example of an uncompromising nature, unique style and incredibly high artistic level. No that long ago, Jlin was still working at a steel mill, but the records she created after hours led her to providing sound for the fashion shows of Rick Owens and Adidas Originals. Her latest album “Black Origami” landed on top of the charts prepared by opinion-forming media and featured William Basinski and Holly Herndon, among others. Thanks to determination and consistency, Tijana T has come a long way from being the face of the Exit festival in Serbia to an European clubbing star famous for her tasteful techno sets. Courtesy was born in Greenland but raised in Dennmark, and her DJ career really took off in 2016. Najaaraq Vestbirk, whose name is a real tongue twister, will charm the public with an explosive set intertwining rave, breakbeat and electro, among other genres.

4-day and 2-day tickets are still available for sale, as well as tickets for the closing concert. The sales of 3-day tickets was postponed. The new date will be announced soon.

The Festival programme remains open with many interesting announcements still to come!
