Eight new artists complete the lineup of the 14th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice! The festival programme reaches 69 artists and expands with accompanying events at Muzeum Śląskie and Sztauwajery. As every year, Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice provides not only fresh sounds, but also a wide array of broadly-defined cultural phenomena. One of the highlights will definitely be the concert of Syny taking place in the carpentry workshop of the former “Katowice” Coal Mine.

Muzeum Śląskie (Silesian Museum) once again becomes one of the festival partners, offering unique attractions for the participants. On June 20-22, every person with a wristband or ticket for Tauron Nowa Muzyka will get a chance to take a tour around the Museum for a symbolic sum of one zloty. The promotion applies to all permanent and temporary exhibitions. One of the most interesting fixtures in the current programme is the “Zajawka. Silesian hip-hop 1993-2003”, an exhibition presenting the beginnings of hip-hop in Poland. In reference to its content, there will be a few hip-hop related events taking place in the Museum. On Saturday, June 22, at 4 p.m. Michał Kotłowski (Good Time Design) will deliver a special performance within the exhibition area that will refer to the very beginnings of graffiti in the region of Silesia. The exhibition will be combined with a special concert. The Stage located in the carpentry workshop of the former Katowice Coal Mine will host Syny. No one remains indifferent to their visionary productions, which is clearly visible during their uniquely atmospheric performances. The number of spots is limited, so we encourage you to arrive early. The fans will undoubtedly enjoy a chance to meet the true legends of Polish hip-hop. The event will be hosted by Bogna Świątkowska, who became famous in the 1990s for her shows at Radio Kolor. Music will be delivered by DJ 600 V, a producer responsible for the success of “Skandal” by Molesta, among other projects. Besides the above-mentioned attractions, the participants of the festival will be in for yet another surprising treat. Look for clues on the museum buildings!

Next to Syny, the group of hip-hop representatives will also include RAT KRU. The residents of Poznań skilfully combine broadly-defined electro with rap. The lineup will be further expanded by two extremely intriguing artists often referring to their native heritage. K Á R Y Y N is a singer with Syrian, Armenian and American roots. Growing up, she spent a lot of time in Aleppo. FACT described her as “an electronic adventurer”, and her music wowed Marina Abramović and Björk, among others. The other intriguing vocalist is Madison McFerrin, who comes from a very musical family. Her father is Bobby McFerrin, the author of famous “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, and her brother is music producer Taylor McFerrin. The American singer dazzles audiences with her voice and skills, often singing a capella. Questlove from The Roots called her music “soulapella”.

During the festival, the doors of Sztauwajery in the Valley of Three Ponds will remain wide open. It’s definitely one of the most charming summer spots in Katowice. It will serve as the official festival club for the 14th Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice, hosting Poland’s top DJs – Bert, iRobot, Mr. Lex and Ros.

This announcement is the last stage of unveiling the programme of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice 2019! See you in four weeks in the Culture Zone! 1-day, 2-day and 3-day tickets are still available for sale. More information on the Festival’s website.
