Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice

Katowice City Hall and Tauron Polska Energia SA to support Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice!

In the face of the ongoing pandemic, the main partners of the festival have decided to continue supporting Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice. Thanks to the involvement of the city and the title sponsor, the event will take place as planned. This year’s edition of the event is planned between 29 July and 1 August. The venue of the festival will remain Katowice’s Culture Zone.

Preparations for the 16th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice have been going on for many months. The next wave of the pandemic forced the event to be moved from the beginning of June to the turn of July and August, which is supposed to facilitate the participation of the audience in the event. The growing number of vaccinated people, plans to implement covid passports, the already widespread availability of tests and the highly probable loosening of restrictions during the holiday period allow for hope for the return of the festivals. Nevertheless, without the good will of the main partners of the event, it would be difficult to organise the event in a stationary format in such a short period of time. Declarations and offers of concrete support for Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice from its main partners allow the organisers to hope that the festival will take place this summer.

“TAURON has been supporting this unique event for years. In this time, it has become a recognizable brand, both in Silesia, Poland, and Central Europe. The Katowice Culture Zone, which will host the Festival, is a symbol of the transformation of Katowice, the musical capital of Poland. The event, though with limitations, will take place, and I hope that it is a sign of a gradual return to pre-pandemic reality”, says Łukasz Zimnoch, Spokesperson of TAURON Polska Energia, the title sponsor of the Festival.

Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice is one of the most appreciated music festivals in Europe. Before the pandemic, the event was attended by more than 20 thousand fans every year. The festival helped to build a positive image of Katowice and Upper Silesia as creative and inspiring places. The combination of modern sounds with historical heritage was a recipe for international success. Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice has received the European Festival Awards for the best festival in Europe three times. In 2020, for the first time ever, the festival was held in a hybrid formula as TNMK.online.

“The Tauron Nowa Muzyka Festival is one of the most popular music events taking place in Katowice, the UNESCO City of Music. Every year the event attracts thousands of fans of new sounds not only from Silesia, but also from all over Poland and many other European countries. Last year, due to restrictions related to the coronavirus, the festival could not take place in its traditional form. Although the pandemic is not letting up, I believe that this year, with all the necessary precautions, we will be able to meet in Katowice in the summer during this great event which is Tauron Nowa Muzyka”, says Marcin Krupa, the Mayor of Katowice.

Thanks to the support of the title sponsor and the main partner, the formula of the 16th edition of Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice will not change. It will still be a festival “long weekend” full of music. It will start with a ceremonial opening concert, followed by two ticketed days in the Katowice Cultural Zone and finally a free FAJRANT on the Sztauwajery in Katowice’s Dolina Trzech Stawów.

“We are delighted that our main partners are playing with us. Without their commitment and support it would be difficult to think about the realisation of such a complicated undertaking as Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice. We are observing the situation and we are prepared to organize the festival with the appropriate restrictions. One thing is certain – this year the festival will take place.” – says Adam Godziek of More Music Agency, co-organiser of the festival.

Tickets can be purchased online on the festival website and on Going, eBilet and Ticketmaster.

Passes purchased so far remain valid. It will not be necessary to exchange tickets. Invariably, any person who has purchased a pass or ticket and cannot attend the festival has the right to return it at the place of purchase.
